Us -Too! Brampton General Meeting &
Pot Luck Dinner

Tonight was an historic meeting at the request of the Steering Committee which was attended by 
Prostate Cancer Canada's Helene Vassos & Prostate Cancer Canada Network Newmarket representative  Derek Lawrence. After a very brief introduction to Prostate Cancer Canada (PCC) and the Prostate Cancer Canada Network (PCCN) they were actively engaged answering questions about the goals of Prostate Cancer Canada. They also addressed the concerns of a few of our members with respect to the effects that it would have on our local support group. Once those concerns were put to rest and all of the questions were answered, it was put to a vote and the attending 50+ members voted unanimously to proceed with Affiliation with Prostate Cancer Canada. 

All that this means for the group is that our name will change to: 

Prostate Cancer Canada Network - Brampton 

We will retain our affiliation with Us Too International, and we will continue to honor the contributions of our founders and long time members.  The small number of our members who were opposed to the affiliation fear that it will somehow lead the group away from our goals of PCa Awareness and Support for the newly diagnosed and their families.  On the contrary, we could sense during the meeting both a renewed commitment to the cause and a brand new sense of optimism that our voices would finally be heard on the provincial and national stages.

After the vote our members enjoyed a lovely pot luck dinner while socializing with new & old friends.
Gary Foote did a wonderful job hosting this meeting while also showing some of the Public Service Announcements and Television Advertisements being aired across the nation by
Prostate Cancer Canada
