US TOO MEETING - TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2001
CAMPUS AUDITORIUM, WILLIAM OSLER HEALTH CENTRE, 7:00 - 9:00 P.M.
BRAMPTON MEMORIAL HOSPITAL, 20 LYNCH STREET, BRAMPTON, ONTARIO.

SPEAKER - ONCOLOGIST DR. M.MILOSEVIC
Our speaker for the evening will discuss radiation therapy. Dr.Milosevic is from Princess Margaret Hospital.
Have your questions ready.

DR.S.SEDHEV
More than 80 people attended our second regular meeting on October 9th to see oncologist Sandeep Sehdev give an excellent presentation on hormonal therapy. The 54 members, their spouses and guests were treated to a great oration, an excellent computerized presentation and a very informative discussion on PC SPES. It was also nice to see two medical products specialists from AstraZeneca in the audience. It was the second largest gathering of members---only Sandy Hawley in 2000 drew more.

WHAT'S AHEAD
The December 11th meeting is our Christmas social pot luck buffet.Secretary Marg Butterly will organize the evening. We are still hoping a retired sports star will make an appearance.
We have been working on the new year, and have scheduled several interesting evenings. In no particular order, we are organizing another play at Lester B. Pearson Theatre, a doctor specilizing in alternative medicine and possibily another survivor night, which seemed to be very popular last year. If you have any ideas or would like to see someone return, please let me, Gerry Brunjes or Fred Norris know.

NEW MEMBERS
We now have separate meeting nights for new members. The last two meetings of 2001, will be held on Wednesday November 14th, and Wednesday December 12th, in the Auditorium. Any new members arriving on a regular meeting night will be registered, given a kit and asked to attend the next new member meeting. However, counselors will also be available after our regular meetings to answer questions. In 2002, the new member meetings will be the fourth Tuesday of every month or two weeks from our regular scheduled get-togethers.
At press time the following new members for October were recorded:Joe & Jesse Ammirante, Rham Bherat, Ken & Karen Gratton, Walter & Florence Jucker, Mukul & Samirah Luthra, Paul & Sarah Middleton and Al & Diane Miles.

SHIRTS
We now have about eight new orders for what we originally called golf shirts, but they are much more than that. Everyone who wears one does a public relations job for US TOO - Brampton and prostate cancer awareness. We will be ordering about a dozen shirts by the end of November. If you are interested, please telephone or see me on meeting night.Your cost $30.00 per shirt.

A ROOM SOMEWHERE
As mentioned last month, your finance officer, Gerry Brunjes, has been attempting to find us a room, an office, a clubhouse, a meeting place for members or just a place for US TOO - Brampton to call home. The idea is not new; there are similar rooms at Princess Margaret Hospital, Sunnybrook Health Centre and the Ottawa support group also has one. Gerry has done a remarkable job and while we have run into a few snags, we are still attempting to find a place where we can meet with new members, or any member, for that matter, who may need help. Once again we ask for your thoughts about this. Can you be of any help?

WEB SITE
Well, my friends, we have just given the web site a face lift. Once again our English designer friend, Peter Dutch, with help from member Jim Dorsey, has added a few new wrinkles. Somehow I was able to get all the changes in place. The new "disclaimer" is something else again and now, like our bigger brother in Manitoba, YOU can get this newsletter right off the web site. Just go to the "newsletter"link, open it, and print it. Want to put a face to your steering committee ? Just scroll down to the "Meet the Committee" link and press and follow the instructions. Since our start in 1999, we have had over 2,500 hits, which is not bad for a site that doesn't sell anything except health. While most hits are from Canada and the U.S, we have had hits from U.K..,Sweden, Bermuda, France and Togo. Go in and take a look, I'm sure you will be impressed.

"EATING RIGHT FOR LIFE"
Our September speaker, Tanya Giaguinto, obtained enough "Eating Right for Life" booklets for our membership. The booklet's subtitle is "prostate cancer nutrition & you" and in our opinion, the booklet is very well done. Any member who cannot get to a meeting and would like a copy, please let us know and we will try to get one to you.

MEMBERSHIP
US TOO - Brampton cares about all existing and prospective members. If you need help or just want to talk, please let a telephone or steering committee member know. We now have veterans of just about every available treatment. Members of the steering committee will be available at 9 o'clock in the auditorium, right after our regular meetings.
When you become a member, we never ask what you do for a living, or what you did before you retired. However, we are looking for a lawyer and a videogragher. Does anyone out there fit the bill ?

Gerry Brunjes has asked me to remind you that your $10 membership fee is due.We have received payment from 69 members, which is about half of the membership. If you can't make a meeting and wish to remain on our mailing list, you may send a cheque made out to US TOO - Brampton to: Gerry Brunjes, 8 Duke Rd., Brampton, Ont. L6T 3K1.
There will be no charge for refreshments this year, but all donations are appreciated. We would like to thank member Al Hustins for his donation for the third year in a row. These additional funds over and above the membership fee are much appreciated.

TO OUR NEIGHBOURS, FRIENDS, AND RELATIVES SOUTH OF THE BORDER, YOU ARE IN OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS.
